Hallo dear Friends,
Can you say with me that our God is still in control and the ways
in which He leads us is still the best?
I like to call you friends - as so many have written to me and encouraged
me in what I am called to do. My humble apologies for having been
so quiet for so long.
As a family we are blessed and my husband Danie is settling in well
in South Africa. He is a wise man and took his time to look for
the right kind of business to get involved in. So I might as well
tell you what he is doing. They get venison from Namibia and from
some parts in South Africa - then they cut it up and provide certain
super markets with these special cuts. I hope I explained it correctly.
What do I know - I'm only a singer!!!! Hanel is still doing well
and more and more clients are coming back to her for treatments.
She is doing an excellent job. Hano - our son - one of the twins
who lived in Scotland for a while is here with us in South Africa.
He has found the love of his life in Scotland. What did I expect-
I have been praying for the right person in his life. We got to
know her a little over the phone and all of us in the family - just
know that we love her. When he had his birthday on the 12th of April
she sent him presents all the way from Scotland - not only that
- she sent all of us a present as well!!! Now our other son Nicolaas
is still flying up in Namibia and loving it - he is studying for
his final exams to fly the big one's.
Yes - at last we had the latest CD in our hands. It is called "Draw
Me". So interesting that we had to record it twice (as you
all know) - I had a second person to work on the CD cover. We all
say it means a double portion of His anointing on it. The launching
of this CD was so exciting - when you do things in Gods order -
it works. We prayed much and then things just fell into place.
We had to find a venue to perform - beverages and food for the guests,
a sound engineer - a band etc. The venue was offered to us - free
of charge and it was the most beautiful place in this area. Up in
the mountains surrounded by vineyards. It is called Devonvalley
Hotel - own by a group of Christian businessmen and the manager
Craig and his assistant manageress Marlisa - were just unbelievable
in the way they arranged things for us. The whole staff - are to
be commended on their attitude and helpfulness. Most of them are
Christians. Thank you Christians - operating in the world and making
a difference. Sometimes we hear of Christians in the corporative
world and not performing to standards. I am surely proud of that
group of people- hope some of you read this. Then I spoke to an
old school friend of mine who has a dairy farm - he offered all
the cheese, butter and fruit juices!!! How he will be blessed. Bread
and jam - or jelly as some of you call it was provided by my cousin
Marinda. The sound and the engineer were paid for by an anonymous
donor. The band was paid for by my dear friend Nic and Julie Vlok
from Johannesburg. Then my special friend Johan Els - who is Dutch
Reformed dominee - and a well known radio personality - with an
incredible voice and a way to captivate an audience - was my MC.
He did a great job. My band was lead by a young man I once saw performing
at the same conference where I had to sing. I asked him last year
already if he would be interested in helping me out some day. And
yes - there he was - he got his team together and we only rehearsed
twice - for 3 and a half hours - on 5 songs. They were great. Such
servant hearts and fun! We are busy working on a longer concert
type thing this time. My pianist and leader for the launch was Paul,
the drummer - James, my guitarist was John - almost the whole gospel
there- and my bass player was Pierre. Hanel my daughter helped with
backing vocals and so was a delightful young man called - Bjorn.
And of course - Hanel did some solo work with me. What a joy!
We even had national television there and the reason for that is
that they are busy doing a documentary of me and my family - regarding
our experiences now that we are out of Zimbabwe. So they continued
the shooting - with some live excerpts from the concert. The program
was short and to the point. I explained why I did this album - why
it was more individual worship and in this specific lounge style
- soaking music. I just felt in my heart that once you know what
is like to worship by yourself in your closet - gently and quietly
with and before your God - only then do you understand what it is
to go worship cooperatively with other believers out there. You
know then what it is about and why you do it - and not just follow
others or maybe feel left out as you do not yet know how to worship
your Lord and Saviour- who wants you to enjoy Him and His presence.
We continue to pray that the CD will make a difference in all hearts
hearing it. By the way - my dearest husband was one of the anonymous
donors!!! Is that not darling?
May I also thank you for your prayers for the restoration of my
knee after the operation - I am healed. Praise to Him alone.
Now I pray that you will have a meaningful Easter season as we are
reminded of the sufferings of Christ on the cross. People reason
backwards and forwards during these times as to - who killed Christ?
I read an interesting article by Dr. Peter Hammond and would like
to share some of my views combined with his with you. Again the
question - who killed Jesus? Is it the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate;
was it the people in the streets - they who pressured Pilate to
condemn the Lord to death? Was it the religious leaders of the time
- who initiated the arrest and trial of Jesus? Read Luke 23:23-25
also Exodus23:2 "You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor
shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside many to pervert
justice." Was it Jesus Himself who was responsible for His
own death? As He declared: I lay down My life for the sheep....I
lay down My life... no one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of
Myself.. He was not a victim or a martyr - He was a willing sacrifice
Atonement - for our sins. Finally - it was our sin - mine and your
sin that was responsible for the suffering and the atoning death
of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was for our sin - my sin that He suffered
and died. Read Isaiah. 53:5-12
1 John 4:10 In this is love that we love God, but that He loved
us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
My friends - we need to repent from our wickedness and place our
trust in Christ. Have you acknowledge your sinfulness and failings
before Almighty God? Please thank Him for dying on the cross for
your sins. He died for you - Are you living for Him?
Blessings to you and yours.
I greet you in His Name.
Your friend and servant.
Hanli
